2005 Site Updates:

August 13th, 2005:

With school starting in less than a week (August 18th) and with the month of August getting off to a slow start for the Port of Green Bay I decided to do a little catching up. While it may be far from our minds by now, I have completed the 2004-2005 vessel winter lay-up gallery. The page covers ships I took photos of laid up on all 5 Great Lakes last winter. Sorry it took so long to get the page up but I hope you enjoy it now that it is.

Past Updates:

July 11th, 2005:

Things are busy in the port of Green Bay as well as with me this summer. I have brought Green Bay Shipping News back up to date and made a new photo gallery covering my June trip up to Sault Ste. Marie. The new photo page has over 60 images and can be viewed off the main Photo Page.

April 21st, 2005:

The 2005 shipping season is pretty much in full swing in the Port of Green Bay. The ice is gone, the buoys are back, ships are in port, and the weather is getting warmer. I have been getting several inquiries as to when the 2004/2005 Lay-Up page will be up and ready for viewing. I apologize that it has taken so long to get it up in the first place. I have several other things going on with the family, house, and school. The page WILL be completed I am just not sure when. I am truly sorry for any inconveniences this will cause.

March 24th, 2005:

Seeing ships in Green Bay again is just an icebreaker away! Many terminals in Green Bay are requesting shipments as soon as possible. Four vessels are lined up for arrival in port as soon as icebreakers create tracks in the Northern section of the bay of Green Bay. Today I updated the Ship Schedule and added three new articles to the Port News page. Work continues on the 2004-2005 lay-up page and it will be posted soon!

March 15th, 2005:

I have returned from my winter lay-up trip. The only port I need to visit yet to get photos is Milwaukee which I will be getting this weekend. I have already started work on the 2004-2005 lay-up page. If all goes as planned the new page should be ready for viewing on March 25th. I have updated alot of the pages on the site in anticipation of the opening of the 2005 season. Ice breaking should begin this week and Green Bay could see a vessel in port by the end of March.

March 6th, 2005:

I will be taking a lay-up trip in Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario during my spring break. I will leave Wednesday March 9th and return Monday March 14th. During that time there will be no updates to Green Bay Shipping News. The shipping season normally starts in Green Bay around the end of March or beginning of April.

February 24th 2005:

The majority of the winter work on the site has been completed. All the images on the site are reloaded and all the photo galleries are up and ready for viewing. In a couple of weeks I will be heading out on my winter lay-up trip and will begin the 2004-2005 lay-up gallery when I return. The next project for Green Bay Shipping News will be an improved Viewing Areas page to show those not familiar with the area where the best public areas are to photograph ships in Green Bay. Have a GREAT week!

February 12th 2005:

A new "photo of the week" has been loaded. I have also updated the News page with articles on the 2004 Season tonnages and the lay-up fleet in Sturgeon Bay. I will be adding the pictures from the 2003/2004 layup gallery soon, and will start work on the 2004/2005 page as I have been to three ports already to catch boats in lay-up and will be heading up to Duluth/Superior Friday to catch the fleet up there. I will be making a lower Great Lakes tour over my Spring Break in March catching boats in Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario. I will keep you posted with any news and updates on this page. Thank you for your visit.

January 22nd 2005:

The 2004 shipping season has ended. As soon as I get all the final numbers I will be posting a season in review article on the News Page. I added two articles on the news page Saturday covering a trip to Escanaba, and the end of the season in Green Bay. Work on the site will slow down now for the next week as I will be spending more time on my studies. Work on updating the 2003/2004 Lay-up gallery will start at the beginning of February.

January 20th 2005:

Work on the NEW Ships in Green Bay photo gallery is done. The 2004 shipping season should be ending here by the weekend. As soon as I get all the final numbers I will be posting a season in review article on the News Page. Work on the site will be slow for the next week as I will be spending more time on my studies. Work on updating the 2003/2004 Lay-up gallery will start at the beginning of February, in the mean time I will keep up on the smaller updates. Have a great weekend!

January 16th 2005:

Work on the new Port Terminals page is done. The pages information has been updated and new photos have been added to each terminal. There is also a terminals map on the page. Work will begin Monday on the NEW "Ships in Green Bay" photo gallery. This new gallery will be like the old one except be somewhat larger in size. Look for the new gallery to be complete around the end of this week.

January 15th 2005:

Started work today on the new Port Terminals page, there is now a new terminals map on the page. Work will continue to add new photos of ships at the various terminals. A new slideshow has also been added to the home page.

January 14th 2005:

Winter lay-up work began on the site today. Many of the pictures on the site have been taken down to be re-organized. Old photos on the site have also been removed to make room for the new season. There will be alot of updates and changes to the site over the winter to make the site even better for the 2005 season. Be sure to check this page through out the winter to see what is all changing on the site.
